This chunky volume features more than 1500 original engravings that illustrated the Webster's dictionaries of the 19th Century. Meticulously cleaned and restored by fine-press bookmaker Johnny Carerra, these engravings have been compiled into an infinitely fascinating artistic visual reference. Images of everything from Acorns to Zebras, Bell Jars to Velocipedes, are arranged alphabetically to create enigmatic juxtapositions of the items deemed important to the Victorian mind. Perfect for delighting and inspiring today's artists, designers, and anyone with an interest in visual history, "Pictorial Webster's" is a visually stunning reference on both the dictionary thought-process and on printing technique.
