About the Author

Over the past 30 years, Nancy Marshall has won national awards and recognition for her expertise in public relations and marketing, particularly in travel, tourism and economic development. In 2011, she received the Edward L. Bernays Award from the Maine Public Relations Council, recognizing the top PR professional in the state of Maine. Her agency, Nancy Marshall Communications, specializes in creating integrated marketing communications programs to help clients achieve their business goals which she calls The Marshall Plan(R). As a matter of fact, she owns a registered trademark on the term, The Marshall Plan(R). She started the agency in 1991 and originally focused exclusively on working with the media to get the message out to her clients' targeted public about newsworthy events and improvements. NMC has garnered results for clients in top media, including the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, USA Today, Good Morning America and Woman's Day. Today, the agency handles all aspects of marketing for their clients, from advertising, website development, social media, Internet marketing, special events and sales promotions. She has always focused on using technology and the Internet to leverage her clients' marketing communications, which she believes has leveled the playing field between her agency in Maine and agencies in New York and across the country. A passionate and tireless entrepreneur, Nancy holds a bachelor's degree from Colby College and an MBA from Thomas College.
