About the Author

Peter Turnham describes himself as an accidental novelist. As a semi-retired businessman, Peter's life was very active, until an injury confined him to a chair for several months. Unable to be active, he turned to writing and discovered a hidden talent. The result was his first novel "Autumn Daffodils - Charlie's Story". This was quickly followed by a second book, "Autumn Daffodils - Joanna's Story". This is his 3rd book, entitled "None Stood Taller", the first in his "None Stood Taller" trilogy, and Peter is now working on his 6th novel. He lives in the English Cotswold hills with Carol his wife and collaborator. Of all his many interests, writing has now become his number one passion; further novels will follow!

I want to buy copies to hand around to friends and family. I want to read it out loud to my children. I want to reread it myself. It has inspired me. It has uplifted me with the strength of spirit displayed. I will never treat June 6th the same again, ever. It will not be just a day in history. It is real. It is our life! Without it we would not be as we are. Bravo Peter Turnham. Bravo.

How he used the facts of history to weave a tale of how they were able to drop social protocol to become a team working to win the war. I loved the ending.

susan shrimpton5.0 out of 5 stars None stood tallerReviewed in the United Kingdom on May 18, 2021I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book it was completely different to the books I normally readI was hooked from the first page, starting with the bombing of London in the blitz and the mother and two children dyingLily's journey from that horrific day to her employment and work with the ministry during the war, and the numerous friends and staff she dealt with during that time.

Avid reader5.0 out of 5 starsWonderful enjoyable readReviewed in the United Kingdom on April 20, 2021I love reading novels around the wonderful work the SOE did during the war and this, for me, was a truly inspirational read. I often see reviews by people who say they couldn't put the book down, and that was what I felt about this one. I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't want it to end. I notice there is to be one about Lily and I really would like to read that as the love triangle seemed to fizzle out in the final chapter and it was only the reunion chapter where it became clear who she eventually married. Great book; only sorry it's finished.
