"Some art takes its subject from literature. It is far more unusual for literature to take its inspiration from art. But that is exactly what 15 writers--many of them prize-winners or best-sellers--have done..."--Ellen Gamerman "The Wall Street Journal " To me, Linden Frederick's paintings of a solitary store and a deserted highway at twilight, a single light in a large dark house, a tarnished car from an earlier era and an ice machine in winter depict a faded version of small-town America that is drained of nostalgia; this isn't the way life used to be, it's the way life really is.--Christine Parrish "The Free Press, 8/10/2017 " "It's about time more fiction writers got into the ekphrastic business. I can't wait to read "Night Stories" and see what this talented group has woven from Frederick's mysterious and captivating paintings"--Joshua Bodwell "Portland Press Herald, 8/27/2017 " "He painted; they wrote. Such was the genesis of Night Stories, a new exhibition and collection of short fiction from Linden Frederick and 15 of America's best novelists and screenwriters."--NATHAN FRONTIERO "TAKE Magazine, 8/25/2017 " "It prompts the public to look and think differently about the connections between fine art and literature."--Debbie Hagan "Hyperallergic "
