Sam Lee's book, A New Kind of Pentecostalism, is an easy to read yet saliently clear analysis on some of the notable problems challenging the ongoing integrity of global Pentecostal spirituality. moreover, Lee's analysis helps clarify via a clear and concise approach, how these problems challenge the integrity of Pentecostal ministry and thus the fidelity of Pentecostalism to its inherent communal giftedness as a Christian tradition in behalf of the 21st century witness of the Church Catholic to the gospel of Christ. In doing do, Lee clearly evidences a perspective forged in his grass-roots ministry-experience as a Pentecostal pastor, sociologist, and human rights activist-- all of which also reflects his ongoing role along with his wife, in leading a Netherlands church that ministers to the Amsterdam immigrant and refugee community. The varied kind of problems and both failures, which Lee examines throughout his work, are I believe quite well known both within and outside of Pentecostal circles. Lee's interest however arises from his own personal familiarity with painful repercussions on the congregational level; I believe it this sense of passionate pastoral concern that fuels his prophetic exposé into the problems of global Pentecostalism.
