About the Author

Peter Harrington is Curator of the Anne S. K. Brown Military Collection in the John Hay Library at Brown University. A native of Manchester, England, he holds degrees in archaeology, anthropology, history/ geography, museum and library studies. One of his major works was British Artists and War: The Face of Battle in Paintings and Prints, 1700-1914 (London, Greenhill, 1993). His other area of interest is conflict archaeology, especially of the British civil wars, and he has written several books on the subject. Keith Rocco's passion for history and art began when his parents got him a book of American Civil War paintings for Christmas, which inspired him to copy the pictures and start a collection of American Civil War and Napoleonic artifacts. His work now hangs in every major collection of historical art in the US including the Pentagon, the House of Representatives, Gettysburg National Park and numerous private collections. Keith Rocco lives and paints in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.
