"All music therapists know the importance of social skills development, and we know that music therapy is a great way to build these skills. This book takes you through the process of assessing social skills in a clearly defined, observable and structured manner, built on a foundation of applicable research. I look forward to using this book with my students to support their development of observational skills and their ability to utilize clear assessment protocols." -- Mary S. Adamek, PhD., MT-BC, Director, Music Therapy Program, University of Iowa, USA
A systematic, creative method to assist students in attaining greater independence in their social interaction with one another, the Music Therapy Social Skills Assessment and Documentation Manual is a welcome addition to the libraries and toolboxes of music therapists working with groups in school or community settings. With a thorough review of literature supporting its theoretical underpinnings, multiple case studies, sample forms and letters, and clear definitions, the model may be adapted to fit the needs, cultures and preferred musical genres of our clients. -- Ronna S.
