The Markus Lupertz Exhibition runs from May 27 to September 10, 2017, at the Phillips Collection, Washington, D. C., and Hirshhorn Museum, Washington, D. C.
Markus Lupertz was born in Liberec, Bohemia, in 1941. He lives and works today in Berlin, Dusseldorf, and Karlsruhe. From 1988 to 2009, Lupertz was the rector at the Staatliche Kunstakademie (State Art Academy) in Dusseldorf. His art is represented in the most renowned institutions in the world: the Tate Modern in London, MoMa in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, et al.
