About the Author

Sian Hamilton has been a designer for over 20 years and has a BA (Hons) in 3D Design. Sian has always loved to sew. Introduced to sewing by her grandmother, who was a seamstress, she started sewing clothes for herself in her teenage years and then progressed to making custom wedding dresses for clients in her early career. These days, sewing is her hobby as she is the editor of 'Making Jewellery' magazine and the author of several books on jewellery making, including 'Flowers and Cats', available from GMC Publications. Tansy Wilson is based in Somerset, UK and has 20 years' worth of experience in the craft industry. She teaches jewellery design at her local Further Education College. Tansy is a regular contributor to GMC's magazines and she has also had two jewellery books published by GMC Publications, 'Animals' and 'Earrings', both part of the 'Magpie' series.

"Macrame by Tansy Wilson & Sian Hamilton is a brilliant introduction to the age-old art of knotting textiles to produce incredible craft creations. Promising all the inspiration you need to transform your home and enhance your collection of accessories, this title not only teaches you the basics, it also offers 11 exciting projects for you to explore. There is no better time to broaden your horizons and with this book at your disposal, the results are bound to be spectacular!"

-- "Let's Knit Magazine"

"... still a lot of fun to be had joining the revival of the knotting craft popular back in the 1970s. The repetitive act of manipulating the twine is meditative, even addictive! After a bit of context, the book gets straight down to projects. There are the ubiquitous plant hangers, but also wall hangings, bags and dreamcatchers - featuring the inner rings from old embroidery hoops! Colour is added with dyeing techniques: uniform, dip dyeing for an ombre effect and combining colours are all explained. There's inspiration with in-depth interviews with the makers who are pushing the boundaries. Plus all the details you'd expect on knot formation and different twines."

-- "Stitch magazine"

"All the projects in this beautiful new book have fully illustrated step-by-step instructions that make learning macrame quick and stress free! You can look forward to hours of creative and relaxing fun with this book."
