Qiu Xialong was born in Shanghai. He was selected for membership in the Chinese Writers Association and published poetry, translations and criticism in China. He has lived in the US since 1989 where his first novel Death of A Red Heroine (currently available from Turnaround) was nominated for an Edgar and received the Anthony Award for Best First Novel. He lives in St Louis with his wife and daughter.
