Lorraine grew up learning sewing and quilting from her mother and grandmothers. her love of fabric was apparent early as she rescued discarded scraps and used them to make clothes and quilts for her dolls. she received her first sewing machine on her ninth birthday to keep her from monopolizing her mother's. She has always enjoyed making clothing and utility quilts for her family. Lorraine fell in love with patchwork after her children were in school, and she started collecting patchwork patterns. she discovered miniatures after seeing some little quilts at a local quilt show, and just had to try a few. her little quilts won prizes at local shows and fairs. Lorraine now competes in national quilt shows and has a miniature quilt in the Museum of the American Quilter's society permanent collection. She still loves rescuing scraps and has a large collection of small pieces of fabric. she uses her collection to make small reproduction quilts. she has recently learned how to dye fabric and looks for ways to use all the hand- dyed fabric in her quilts. Lorraine lives in springfield, Missouri, with her husband and teenage son. her married daughter and son visit often. Lorraine enjoys being outdoors and walking the local ozark trails with her family.
