The call of a mourning dove spurs Daniel's magical journey in which
the real promise of the Mayan Prophecy gradually comes to light.
Jock Whitehouse, inventively mixing chronologies and cultures,
provides Daniel with Leila the Teacher, Melchior the Shaman and a
small brown and gray snake to guide him on his way to the Ledge of
Quetzal. Here he comes full circle to a deep recognition of the
dove's message. This is the way the universe is. A divine reality,
comprehensible to us all, is present already and always. --Ann
