Gr 1-2-Two beginning readers that encourage adults and children to read together using different levels of vocabulary. The left-hand pages are designed to be read by "Parents" and the right side by youngsters. The stories were adapted from traditional fairy tales and this familiarity adds to their appeal. The concept is one with merit and both adaptations are competently done. The cartoon-inspired drawings for The Frog Prince have a humorous bent while the art for Jack and the Beanstalk is colorfully done for dramatic effect.-Maura Bresnahan, Shawsheen School, Andover, MA
