Patrick O'Connell, a native of Washington, D.C., is a self-taught chef who pioneered a refined, regional American cuisine in the Virginia countryside. The Inn at Little Washington opened in a former garage in 1978 and has evolved from a simple country inn to an international culinary shrine. O'Connell has been referred to as "the Pope of American Cuisine." His restaurant has won many awards. The Inn is included on Condé Nast Travelers' Annual Gold list and Travel and Leisure's Top 500 Hotels, and it is a member of Relais & Chateaux. Derry Moore was a contributing photographer for Nest magazine. He continues to photograph for Architectural Digest and other magazines, and is the author of In House, Rooms, and The Englishman's Room.
"O’Connell takes readers on a personal tour of how the renowned
luxury country inn and restaurant began and his work with London
designer Joyce Conway Evans that has made the inn what it is
today."
