Major K.C. Praval retired from the Army in 1969 after 35 years of service. He embarked on a career in the Army at a time when the British Empire was at its pinnacle. During World War II he served with the Fourth Indian Division in Egypt where he won the Indian Distinguished Service Medal. He had varied experience in the Army and, besides contributing to leading dailies and journals in India, he published two highly acclaimed works-India's Paratroopers and Valour Triumphs (a history of the Kumaon Regiment).
