There are so many short stories in this collection, by authors including Susan Sizemore, Tanya Huff and Cheyenne McCray, that I'm just going to comment overall, with one exception. This anthology is rife with black magic and red hot passions, all written with the skill you'd expect of the thirteen authors . The plots involve all manner of otherworldly beings, including the Minotaur. Yep, the Minotaur, and this is my exception. 'Minotaur in Stone' by Marjorie Liu, is extraordinary. It's written in first person, and in present tense, both reasons for me to dislike the story, but it is so exquisitely written, maintaining an almost poetic lyricism while fulfilling the typical paranormal genre expectations of excitement, sensuality, and high romance, that it is the stand out of this collection.
