Judith Palmer Harik is an American professor of political science at the American University of Beirut who has spent the past twenty years observing and researching the effects of the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon. One of those effects was the rise of the alleged Shiite Islamic terrorist group, Hizballah - the Party of God.
'Hark's study differs from previous efforts...The challenge that she set for herself was far from easy, and she has accomplished it with considerable success.' 'The book is extremely valuable for the depth of information that it provides' 'An excellent analysis' Robert Brenton Betts, Middle East Theage.com Book Reviews, Books, September 16 2006. 'A highly detailed, argumentative and sorely needed investigation of a movement that has polarised views on conflict in the Middle East like few other.' Benjamin MacQueen
