"Informed comment and original thinking, clear-sighted, common-sensical and altruistic - what more could you want from a book of philosophy?" -- Geoff Ward Suite 101 "This diverse set of essays is an interesting examination of (or introduction to) the different subjects covered. Although the subject matter is challenging Ruben's style is generally pretty succinct and doesn't seem any more difficult than necessary, and I'd recommend the book to anyone with a nascent interest in political or moral philosophy." -- Jill Bone Bookbag "The presentation of Rubens' ideas in [an] almost aphoristic manner might lose some points in the attempt to make the whole viewpoint more digestible, but it certainly encouraged me to have a go at just one more essay before putting the book down." -- Ben Basing Ethical Record
