About the Author
Author/speaker/trainer Mary Beth Magee draws on her curiosity and love of research to explore God's world and write about it. A New Orleans native, she now lives in south Mississippi. She first saw her name in print as a juvenile book reviewer her hometown paper and hasn't stopped writing since. Her checkered past includes stints as a telephone operator, substitute school teacher, cosmetic sales, home health aide, government contractor, kitchen help in a deli, real estate sales, office manager and corporate trainer. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, focusing on adult learning. Over the years, her writings have covered news and feature articles, book and movie reviews, training materials, greeting cards, short fiction, poetry, and church bulletins. She has appeared in both Christian and secular anthologies. Her blog covers a variety of craft and ministry topics. She also writes "Barnabas on the Road - the Adventures of a Traveling Zebra," a series of Christian children's stories featuring a toy zebra which appear online. Her debut novel, Death in the Daylilies, joined her anthology work in 2014. Subtitled "An (LOL)4 Mystery," the story follow three senior citizens who stumble onto a murder during a daylily tour. She's published a series of book of devotions, Devotions from the Road of Life, and a poetry collection, Songs of Childhood, Echoes of Years. In 2015, she achieved a long-time goal of an appearance in Chicken Soup for the Soul in the volume subtitled "Thanks to My Mom." Previous journals include a Caregiver's Log as a companion volume to Devotions from the Road of Life, Volume 2: Devotions for Caregivers. Magee's current projects include the next volume in the (LOL)4 series, Ambush at the Arboretum, and a new Devotions from the Road of Life volume, as well as books related to her seminars.
