Roy Hay has been an amateur footballer, coach, manager, referee, journalist and historian. He and Bill Murray wrote A History of Football in Australia: A Game of Two Halves and co-edited The World Game Downunder. He is a member of Football Federation Australia's Panel of Historians and of Football Federation Victoria's Historical Committee.
