Sass Brown is a full-time professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and lives in Florence, Italy, where she is Resident Director for its overseas programme. She has created collections for myriad manufacturers, from urban clothing for London's trend conscious teenagers, to her own signature collection of women's designer sportswear. She specializes in ethical design practices in the fashion industry and has worked with women's cooperatives in Latin America, most notably COOPA-ROCA in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
'Eco Fashion makes an important contribution to the global movement for ecology-in-design. In particular, Sass Brown calls attention to the many independent designers who are bringing environmentally-friendly fashion to the next level.' Valerie Steele, Director, The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology 'Eco Fashion will be one of the fastest growing areas in the global fashion business this decade. This book provides an excellent overview of this emerging field.' Dr Suran Goonatilake OBE, Founder of Iqons, the world's largest fashion industry networking site 'Eco Fashion is a thoughtful and stimulating publication that comprehensively covers the way companies and designers are responding to the challenge of creating a more environmentally friendly yet design-led fashion industry. What is perhaps unique about this publication is how it provides both an insight into the key drivers behind developing an eco fashion industry, whilst at the same time acting as a guide to the designers and fashion companies who are tackling these issues. This publication never loses sight of the importance of creating fashionable and exciting clothes if we are to have a sustainable fashion industry.' Professor Frances Corner, Head of College London College of Fashion
