Matthew Wood has been a practicing herbalist since 1982. He has seen and helped thousands of people with herbs and has taught thousands of students on three continents. His students now consult and teach throughout the world. He is known for his in-depth knowledge of the specific properties and symptoms indicating each herb. Matthew completed is BA in Field and Laboratory Botany, and he holds an MS (Herbal Medicaine) from the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine. He is a member of the American Herbalist Guild, and the author of seven books on herbal medicine, including The Book of Herbal Wisdom. He is nowhere more at home than in a garden or a forest.
The Earthwise Herbal Repertory is an incredibly impressive achievement. While homeopathic repertories are legion, in modern herbal literature we have a very limited collection of works; this is an important and much-needed addition to the published sources of herbal specifics. It will help Western herbalists better understand their materia medica and achieve superior results with their clients. It also helps lay a foundation for the further development of herbal medicine--one rooted in the past, but continuing to grow and look to the future.--David Winston, registered herbalist (AHG), president of Herbalists & Alchemists
"Matthew Wood's style of herbalism is deeply important to the modern world. He reminds us of the deeper intricate and energetic workings of plants. If I want to truly get to the heart of a plant, I read up on what he has to say."--Jonathan Keyes, acupuncturist, author of Guide to Natural Health Matthew Wood's writing leaves me simultaneously pondering, blown away, inspired, and a bit giddy. Few people have the ability to pull in and weave together as many different strands of herbalism into such a beautiful tapestry. I'm deeply grateful to live in a world with his perspective.--Jim McDonald, herbalist at herbcraft.org
