Hades doesn't often give second chances...Xypher has one month on Earth to redeem himself through one good deed or be condemned to eternal torture in Tarturus. But redemption means little to a demigod who only wants vengeance on the one who caused his downfall. Until one day in a cemetery...Simone Dubois is a medical examiner with a real knack for the job. Those who are wrongfully killed appear to her and help her find the evidence the police need to convict their killers. But when a man appears and tells her that she's more than just a psychic, she's convinced he's insane. Now the fate of the world hangs in her hands...It was bad enough when just the dead relied on her. Now's there's the seductive Dream-Hunter Xypher who needs Simone's help in opening a portal to the Atlantean hell realm to fight insatiable demons. The future of mankind is at stake--and so is her life. The only question now is: Who is the bigger threat: the demons out to kill her, or the man who has left her forever changed?

I adore every single book that Sherrilyn Kenyon writes. Her Hunter series are especially brilliant, and I love the whole Greek God theme that runs through everything. This particular book carries on the story of Xypher, who we have met in a previous book. He has been allowed release from "Hell" and into the mortal realm where he is able to finally exact his revenge. Instead, he meets Simone, a human woman that he gets literally stuck with. This is a very unique and exciting story, one that really made me feel Kenyon understood that the good guys aren't always seemingly good. A wonderful love story, you truly feel for Xypher, a demon/man/god who has been treated poorly for so long that any act of kindness is a miracle to him. I read this book front to back in a few hours, I was so riveted!

This book has received rave reviews, so don’t be put off by the fact that I thought it was lack-lustre, and a rehash of one of the first novels in the Dark Hunter series, one written with much more power and oomph. I found myself trudging through it, moaning ‘Oh Sherrilyn, what’s happened to you’, and when I got to the part where Xypher found the body of someone he loved and ‘glared up’ at her attacker, demanding ‘what have you done?’ rather than having any real emotional response, I almost gave up. [Okay, that’s a spoiler, but lots of other stuff happens, so I haven’t spoiled it too much.] Of course Xypher had no emotions to begin with. He’s been cursed to live life without feelings, so he uses the dreams of humans to experience sensation until he’s made human for a month, to see if he can restore his humanity, only to find himself on a slab in front of Simone Dubois, a psychic coroner, who gets one heck of a shock when one of her bodies ups and leaves. [I admit, I liked that bit.] She and Xypher get magically locked together, he whines a lot, she gives him pity sex, and they realise that they’re in love. You might like to read ‘Devil may Cry’ first to get the mythological background.

This book is unique, in that it is the third part of a series which ties into a much larger series. This is one of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dream Hunter novels, which includes Dream Hunter and Upon a Midnight Clear. They are linked to the Dark Hunter series. These books are about the Oneroi - greek gods of sleep - and other supernatural creatures including vampires, demons and immortals. while the storylines can be somewhat formulaic, the stories themselves are intricate and well-written, with light but intricate descriptions and lots of action. a really good, easy read.

I have just received the next six books to the series and can't wait to read this book as well. The books with fishpond always have come on time and beautifully wrapped to protect them. This time they have come on time, thank you. But were not wrapped very well, the corners are bent on three of the books and they have scuff marks on the top and bottom on all books. Just a little disappointed. :(

Dream Chaser,
Xypher only has one month on earth to redeem himself through one good deed, or be condemened to eternal tourture in Tartarus. But redemption means little to a demigod who only wants vengence on the one who caused his downfall.

As always i loved this book as much as everyother one in this series. Xypher as scary as he is is loveable and you feel for him straight away, Simone has a heart of gold, as always Stryker and Satara are their wicked seleves who you could just strangle. Many of the old characters reappear, and some new ones.
If you read the devil may cry right before this one you'll find the story runs togther.
