About the Author

George MacDonald (1824-1905) was a Scottish author, philosopher, and theologian. He wrote was is considered the first modern fantasy novel Phantastes, as well as children's stories, adult novels, and numerous theological essays and sermons. His work influenced some of the most well-known writers of the early twentieth century such as G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Mark Twain, Neil Gaiman, and Madeleine L'Engle. Carla Alvarez is a founding board member of and regular contributor to An Unexpected Journal. She lives in Houston, Texas with her three daughters. She holds a Master's degree in Cultural Apologetics from Houston Baptist University. She is a writer for RaisedtoWalk.org, and a Bible teacher for Bright Sheep Ministries.
