In Melbourne s urban underworld, there s a nightclub for every fantasy and desire. But for Riley Jenson, one such club has become an obsession. Riley, a rare hybrid of vampire and werewolf, hasn t come in pursuit of pleasure but of an unknown killer who s been using the steamy nightspot as his hunting grounds. Leave it to Riley to find the only ticket into the heavily guarded club: Jin, a deliciously hot-bodied bartender who might just provide the key to unmasking a killer unlike any other in the Directorate s experience. Taunted by a former colleague turned rogue, distracted by an ex-lover s attentions, Riley follows Jin into a realm of pleasure she could never have imagined. And as danger and passion ignite, a shocking mystery begins to unravel one where Riley herself becomes the ultimate object of desire...."

I have to agree with the last reviewer, the S&M was a bit much for me too and off putting. I had to slog through this book compared to others in the series. Yet unlike the pervious reviewer I felt that although the ending for Quinn and Riley was a bit sad I felt that the discussion between them had to happen. No woman would want her choices and actions controlled by another.

The next few in the series get a lot better and the realty side of relationships comes more to the fore. The sex returns to uninhibited but thankfully no more overly gruesome S&M. I think this book was a weird glitch that pushed everyone, reader and characters a point to far.
Not my favourite but the series is still an absolute winner in my opinion.

I love the Riley Jensen series but this book was for me the least good in the series.

(Note: Spoilers to come)

I found the book relatively slow - it moves along ok but not nearly as explosively as say the first three in the series. It was also very dark, even by KA's standards and I found the extreme S&M aspect of the book pretty offputting. I like that the sex in this series is so passionately uninhibited but a scene were someone has a body part ripped off during sex is just plain unpleasant. Not erotic at all.

On an emotional level, I also felt a bit disheartened by the Riley/Quinn storyline - overall I felt pretty flat at the end of the book and nearly gave up on the series. Happy to say that the series has improved since this relative low point.

to the previous reveiwer hunny get real if you actually pay attention to the story line those guys tools are kinda spiked and there is nothing seductive about that! but the story line is brilliant it has revenge, passion and a totally kick assed chick fighting. she does what she has to do and makes time for a little fun with Kade on the side. the plots thickens and when her pack is threatened get out of the way the bitch is coming through!

This is a scary, seductive and exciting story of mystery and romance. Any fan of this genre will love this book, and Arthur is a much-loved author of many. I recomend this book to anyone who wants to try something a little different, but who is still a romantic at heart. Great price and a great book
