About the Author

James Hanna wandered Australia for seven years before settling on a career in criminal justice. He spent twenty years as a counselor in the Indiana Department of Corrections and has recently retired from the San Francisco Probation Department, where he was assigned to a domestic violence and stalking unit. James' short stories have appeared in Old Crow Review, Sandhills Review, Edge City Review, Fault Zone, Eclipse, The Literary Review, Red Savina Review, The California Writers Club Literary Review, Zymbol, The Sand Hill Review, and Empty Sink Publishing, which has serialized some of the Pomeroy stories. Three of James' stories were nominated for the Pushcart Prize. James' first published novel, The Siege, depicts a hostage standoff in a penal facility. It is available on Amazon in both print and Kindle versions. Call Me Pomeroy is James' second published book.

Reviews

My first impression was two-fold: Call Me Pomeroy was the most well-written submission we'd had thus far, and it was absolutely hilarious. I'd never encountered a character with such blind optimism and phallic orientation as Pomeroy. E. Branden Hart, Executive Editor, EmptySinkPublishing.comTight writing makes for a brisk flowing narrative, while strong characterization captures the ironies that make Pomeroy thoroughly tawdry yet peculiarly appealing and ridiculously funny. -Maya Fleishmann, San Francisco Book ReviewOriginal, witty, and shrewdly contemplative, Call Me Pomeroy breaks the anti-hero mold. One of those books you will want to talk about, it marks a notable release for author James Hanna. -Book ViralSuffice it to say that James has created in Pomeroy a character that is destined to be talked about and work its way into permanent iconography of contemporary literature...This book is an instant classic. -Grady Harp, Top 100 Reviewer, Vine Voice. It's a fart in the scuba-tank of institutional decorum. A bawdy, brawling middle finger to the vapidity of modern civilization. -Robert McGuill, author of The Outskirts of Nowhere.
