Before accepting his bipolar illness, MICHAEL ROSE, M.A led an over-adventurous life as a New-Age jazz flautist producing four albums, a children's songwriter, a cook on an ocean-going tugboat, and a college ceramics instructor. After accepting and treating his illness, he became a master's-level teaching psychologist and a board member/administrator at a peer-staffed psychiatric recovery and support facility. Using nutrition in his own recovery and in treating others, he became licensed in Florida as a Nutrition Counselor. Happily married, he develops products in the health food industry and is a professional life coach specializing in bipolar recovery. He hopes that this, his second book, will have a powerful impact on the treatment of bipolar disorder.
"Michael Rose has written an essential book of guidance, more of a life raft, for sufferers with a disorder afflicting millions: bipolar illness. Few have even an inkling of their personal power to balance their feelings states and their lives. Rose speaks from vast experience and deep expertise. Bipolar Wellness will stand as one of the most influential self-help books of our times, and psychiatrists and psychologists should hand it out liberally to their patients." Eric Diamond PhD, Clinical Psychologist, Director of the Gainesville Men's Center"Michael Rose's insightful mental health recovery program offers an insider's understanding and advice to help overcome bipolar illness. In fact, this book is a practical addition for anyone wanting to develop successful strategies for all kinds of mental wellness. It is a delightful work of genius." Leslie Kott, Registered Community Health Nurse, Administrator and Educator"When one of my friends was hospitalized with bipolar illness, my biggest frustration was that there was no information that anyone, including the hospital, had to share in order to help our friend. It's amazing that this disease is so rampant and yet kept so secretive. It has such a stigma. I wish I had been able to show her this book, but alas she committed suicide soon after her hospitalization. Michael's book, based on all the tools he used that led to his recovery, is so enjoyable to read and has such a wealth of useful tools and information that it is a must-read, not only for those suffering from this debilitating illness and their therapists and doctors but for anyone who knows someone who has bipolar illness and wants to be supportive." Miriam Kreisman, JD, Attorney"I had to discontinue giving endorsements because this necessitates going over a book with a fine-tooth comb, which I am unable to do. However, I did read the chapter on addictions, and it is excellent."Abraham J. Twerski M.D. Psychiatrist, Rabbi, author Addictive Thinking, Understanding Self-Deception"I have been using a holistic approach toward treating my bipolar wellness for over a decade with a very purposeful combination of medical professional help, spiritual & social support, supplements & lifestyle habits. I have used several of the recommendations in this book and highly recommend anyone wanting wellness to buy and use this book! For those wanting to save years of trial and error, Bipolar Wellness is the most comprehensive book I have ever read for practical help on how to actually treat bipolar illness- bar none. From the Recovery Action Sheets at the end of each chapter, to scientific research on supplementsto sad and hilarious stories, the author has managed to weave a healthy blend of very useful data research, real life stories and practical tips. You won't regret it. Buy this book!" Gabriel Reed Alexander, Bipolar Peer
