Beginners rejoice! HereAEs the first book in a new four-volume Japanese language learning series, starting at beginner level and continuing through the AP Japanese examAEs level of language competency.
With an engaging time-travel adventure storyline, manga-style story pages and a free web-based multimedia resource, "Tuttle Beginning Japanese" was written by Japanese language teachers specifically to grab--and maintain--the interest of the learner. The narrative story follows the life of Kiara, who has just moved to Tokyo as an exchange student. Kiara, Ben and Kenichi get caught in a storm and end up in TomoAEs time machine, through which they visit firsthand various historical and famous events, places and people. These historical and cultural experiences are made even more real for the learner through dialogues, images and CD-ROM audio and video files.

"It provides web-based and supplementary audio resources in addition to the textbook, which progressively give students more exposure to language a little beyond their expected level of attainment, and which immerse students in culturally authentic contexts." --Geoff Biesinger, AATJ Journal "Last year, I discovered the Beginning and Intermediate Japanese series by Kluemper. I changed textbooks immediately after experimenting with it for a week." --Kyler Jackson, Japanese Teacher, Thomas Jefferson High School "One of the newer textbooks in the intermediate space, and a little more lively perhaps than the integrated approach." --Japanesestudent.info blog "It provides web based and supplementary audio resources in addition to the textbook, which progressively give students more exposure to language a little beyond their expected level of attainment, and which immerse students in culturally authentic contexts."
