Socialite Elizabeth Carlton impulsively joins the Women's Army Corps to escape love's disappointments and her father's attempts to control her life. Still, she has never been one to accept discipline imposed by others--not even someone as intriguing as her new sergeant. Sergeant Gale Rains is accustomed to challenges, but she's never had a recruit quite like this one. Rains surrendered much of her Sioux heritage to the Army to escape the hardships and pain of her youth. Now a drill instructor, her calm, steady manner and firm hand have molded women from all walks of life into WACs. But not one of them has ever touched her. Why should this spoiled party girl be any different? With the whole world at war, victory is never certain as two women wage their own battles of will and desire.
About the Author
Jaycie Morrison is a second generation native Dallasite who is also in love withColorado and now splits her time between the two. She lives with her wife of twenty eight years and her ten-year-old blue heeler. As a youngster, she and her friends entertained themselves making up and acting out stories featuring characters from popular TV shows or favorite bands--lots of action and a little romance even then! A voracious reader, she always wondered what it would be like to write a book and found that once she started, it was almost impossible to stop. Her first novel, Basic Training of the Heart, begins a series that combines her love of the written word and of history. Jaycie still enjoys reading, along with learning how to pair wine with gluten freecooking, playing guitar, being out-of-doors in the mountains, and spending time with friends and family.
