Reviews

"One of the most difficult problems for therapists to tackle is a patient's anger. The angry client, in addition to requiring help, often elicits feelings of resentment and hopelessness in the clinician, further contributing to the difficulty in treating these individuals. Now we can have hope, becauseAnger Management: The Complete Treatment Guidebook for Practitioners will help the clinician as much as it will help the patient....This is a highly practical book, with many powerful clinical interventions, written by two leading experts on anger who show great clinical sensitivity. I highly recommend this thought-provoking and very useful book."
--Robert L. Leahy, PhD, Director, American Institute for Cognitive Therapy, New York, NY 10022, Editor, Journal of Cognitive Psychotherapy: An International Quarterly, President-Elect, International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Cornell University Medical College, New York Hospital
"This is an absolutely great practitioners' book by two well-known scholars in the field of anger management....They have written what is probably the definitive therapist book on anger control....I recommend this book highly for all therapists who deal with anger management -- their own or their clients'. In the end, that really includes almost everyone!"
--E. Thomas Dowd, PhD, ABPP, Professor of Psychology, Kent State University, President, American Board of Behavioral Psychology.
"A well-written guidebook which can be utilized by the novice to the most experienced clinician. The authors nicely integrate theory into clinical practice which can be used with diverse clinical populations."
--Ann Marie Kopeck, LCSW, BCD, CAC
"This is a must book for the practitioner aiming to expand one's practice to anger -- the modern day disorder of major proportions. The book is an excellent source of practical knowledge for conducting assessments and designing workable intervention programs. The step-by-step approach overlooks nothing as it comprehensively addresses how to help people gain control over this emotion -- from increasing motivation, to developing self-control strategies, to adjusting to aversive realities, to relapse prevention. This program does it all."
--Richard Suinn, PhD, ABPP, Emeritus Professor, Colorado State University, Past President, American Psychological Association
"...this guidebook describes useful multimodal and comprehensive approaches for teaching clients and others how to reduce and manage anger. Remarkably well done and very worthwhile reading."
--Albert Ellis, PhD, Albert Ellis Institute, New York City
