- Although this CD, recorded at the Marine Mammal Fund in San Francisco, is not the first album of whale communication, it is certainly the most thorough. Unembroidered by human music of any kind, the deep, resonant groans, squeaks, and murmurs are in and of themselves a beautiful kind of music, as calming and restorative as a day at the beach. The almost hour-long recording features killer whales, belugas, narwhals, humpbacks, bowheaded whales, and, for variety, bearded seals.
