A hip-hop/electronica outing by Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda (aka Fort Minor), THE RISING TIED features surging synth lines, tight beats, and moody string passages (arranged by Beck's father, David Campbell). In addition to Shinoda's own thoughtful and potent rhymes, this 2005 album boasts cred-boosting guest shots from Black Thought (of the Roots), Common, John Legend, and others. Far from a vanity project, the disc reveals Shinoda's behind-the-boards skills, particularly on the standout track "Believe Me," which also benefits from Eric Bobo's frenetic Latin percussion. Although THE RISING TIED will undoubtedly appeal to many Linkin Park fans, the inventive and eclectic record is likely to find enthusiastic listeners beyond the nu-metal set.

great album, i was literally in love with many of the hits when i first heard them, due to their catchy beats, which i am a sucker for. this is one album that when you put on you will find it hard to stop dancing to, with hits like petrified and believe me on here, as well as the heartfelt song kenji, you cant go wrong!
this is a really wicked album from fort minor! founding member is mike shinoda from linkin park, whjo really knows how to make a great album. i love so many songs on here, including the softer hit :whered you go", and "kenji". a must have for fans of rock and rap. i love the two songs belive me and petrified!
this is actually a really wicked album! i didnt know what to expect whn hearing that shinoda from linkin park was branching out on his own, but i really like this album! i t has some really cool beats, such as in Petrified, and Belive Me, which are my two personal faves! features a good number of special guests too.
This is one of those albums that just blew me the hell away. They are classing this as hip hop but I woulnt pigeon hole it in that category at all, sure it certainly has rap influences but there are so many different things going on in this record that you cant really put it in a category.
This is one of those albums that you have to hear before you die.
Shinoda does a great job on his first solo album, even enlisting the two senior members of The Roots (Thought and Questlove) for assistance, along with Shawn Carter so some of that hip hop magic had to rub off, but certainly no one expected this album to be this hot, even after the sick mixtape that circulated before this that featured a track where Shinoda and Dipset rapped over Guns N Roses, and where he also did a track with (for you Wu-heads) Ghostface Killah. The album will stay in the CD player for quite some time.
