Polk Miller was a Virginian slave-owner's son and Confederate army veteran who led the African-American vocal group the Old South Quartette, backing their spiritual and secular tunes with his banjo and guitar. This collection features the 1909 cylinder recordings Miller made with the group as well as the later 78s the quartet recorded on their own after Miller's death. Compelling liner notes examine the unusual story of Miller and his group in detail.
