Performer Notes
  • Radiohead: Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Ed O'Brien, Colin Greenwood, Phil Selway.
  • Additional Personnel: Adam Cummings (guitar).
  • Engineers include: Nigel Godrich.
  • OK COMPUTER was nominated for the 1998 Grammy Award for Album Of The Year and won the 1998 Grammy for Best Alternative Music Performance.
  • Photographer: Stanley Donwood.
  • Unknown Contributor Roles: Colin Greenwood ; Ed O'Brien ; Jonny Greenwood ; Nigel Godrich; Phil Selway; Thom Yorke.
  • OK COMPUTER, Radiohead's third album, is the bombastic follow-up to 1995's sleeper hit THE BENDS, which left critics and listeners as impressed with the band's ability as they were curious about their potential. In spite of its technological-sounding title and apocalyptic sci-fi themes, OK COMPUTER is firmly grounded in the rock verities. Waves of guitars rage beneath the haunting melodies and near-hysterical fits of singer Thom Yorke. This complex, intense swarm of guitars is held aloft by a solid, inventive rhythm section and an impressive array of piano and keyboard textures.
  • "Paranoid Android" is a six-minute-plus epic with alternating time signatures, wild dynamic shifts, drama and adrenaline to spare. "Let Down," with its double-tracked vocals and rhythmic throb, may give a brief glimpse back at Radiohead's past, but at no point is OK COMPUTER anything but a hurtle forward.

4 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 19/05/2007

a multi layered album from radiohead that did much for their title at the time of best band in the world. karma police is a song the deserves mention in any best songs list. the lyrics find a way to express in a unique way something that many people have felt. a clever and original selection of tracks, it refuses to let you go until the last song.

5 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 18/05/2007

This is a fantastic album from Radiohead, although I still like "The Bends" better. It's Radiohead at their finest though, and a classic album everyone should own. The music is really interesting with complex melodies and song structures. The song writing is also fantastic.

Paranoid Android and Karma Police are probably the most well known tracks from this album.

4 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 26/01/2007

This is an excellent, moving and chaotically disciplined album by Radiohead, and may be one of the finest examples of progressive music anywhere, ever. The melodies are complex and very well structured, and use a wide range of electronic instruments, making a lot of the songs sound weird and other-worldly. However, there is absolutely no doubt that the members of the band are experts at what they do, and the level of virtuosity shown in their playing is really phenomenal. However, this isn’t a happy album; the underlying theme here is dystopic, and the lyrics and melodies, though all expertly crafted, reflect this fact, and so may not be to everyone’s tastes. Still, this is one of the classics of the genre in my opinion and should be given a try.

wow, this album is amazing! i first got into this band after hearing the song "Karma Police" which i instantly loved, due to the amazing lyrics and emotional singings. the rest of the album is just as good as that song, though nothing in my mind can top that. there is some excellent use of guitars in here, something that i enjoy.

4 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 01/12/2006

This is Radiohead’s best album in my opinion. Technically brilliant with guitar and effects weaved perfectly into it. The percussion also is very nice. Vocally I found this very interesting, different and unique. Perhaps the only thing that prevents me from listening regularly is that the music is quite depression. That being said it’s good.

5 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 27/11/2006

The seminal masterpiece 'OK Computer' was and is an unparalleled vision into the future, through the paranoid, pessimistic eyes of one absolute genius. Thom Yorke is a songwriter of unrivaled caliber. This is the album that solidified that truth.

3 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 03/11/2006

Count me as someone who doesn't get this. The guitar playing is very nice. Drumming is good. The singing is incredibly annoyingly inconsistent. So I can't enjoy this particularly for the same reason as Jeff Buckley, The Smiths, Oasis, etc.

The lyrics are ok. Songs like Karma Police would sound a lot better if you handed them to Michael Stipe or Roger Waters, or maybe even better, Brad from Crash Test Dummies, if you want a more mournful downbeat style. At least most of it is not as annoying as Airbag and Climbing Up The Walls.

Could do without some of the Afternoon Delight type sound effects on Subterranean Homesick Alien, as well.

Scraping to get it to 3.5 for the instrumentation. No Surprises is the best track on here.

If I had a headache, or close to, this gets a 3.

The other test of goodness being that there is zero desire to acquire any more Radiohead after hearing this. Often can be the case for something so obviously mainstream and out there, that I have never noticed before.

Close to best album ever? No way.

4 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 05/10/2006

Despite their reputation and position as most important band in the world I have never really taken to Radiohead. The exception is Ok Computer but at the same time I don't really like it. I find it interesting, challenging and occasionally compelling but like no. There is however a lot to admire about OK Computer.

5 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 21/09/2006

Music never sounded reached a higher plane last century than OK Computer. The first six songs are utterly perfect, there is pause for breath, and then the album rides off into the sunset. Still sounds incredible, Paranoid Android is blah blah blah haven't you heard it all before? It's fantastic!
