Devoted students of the 1970s school of heavy rock, the Australian trio Wolfmother unveiled its full-length debut in early 2006 to considerable buzz. Deftly walking the line between respectful homage and blatant mimicry, singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale sounds like Jack White channeling Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi--as opposed to Page and Plant--particularly on the stomping opener, "Dimension," while the rest of the band ably follows in Sabbath-y suit. Still, Zepp by no means gets short shrift here, as the band pulls off an acoustic-to-electric switch-up on "Where Eagles Have Been" that is more than worthy of a spot on HOUSES OF THE HOLY. Although Wolfmother won't win any points for originality, the group's commitment to executing a seamless cross between two of the best hard-rock bands ever is a fairly tough MO at which to scoff. This is guilt-free headbanging at its finest.

I first heard this album on a road trip around Avebury and its environs. It provided an interesting backdrop for our journey. Full of life and vitality Wolfmother's offering is lighter in parts than the eponymous title at first suggests & more tuneful too. Nodding, or perhaps banging a head to old school rock, there is plenty here to savour. Ignore the formulaic approach and you will enjoy it as much as we did last year on our trip - and it is a trip!
This is a great album. There are really no other bands that sound the same - they are very unique. Songs such as Joker and the Thief are just brilliant. I, and many others, highly recommend this album.
Wolfmother is the best rock band to ever come out of Australia. If you like sort of hardcore indie rock then you should definalty give wolfmother a listen if you havent already. Although all the tracks are good id have to say my favourite is Where Eagles Have Been, the lyrics are great and i love the quirky rhythym.
this is a good album from australian rockers wolfmother although they are not really the type of music i usually listen to this album contain lots of good up beat songs. i would recommend this album for people than kinda like alternative rock'n'roll music.
After hearing the the name 'Wolfmother' for the first time i immediately thought another Heavy-death Metal band. Alas i soon found the old saying "dont judge a book by its cover" stuck in my head. A new refreshing sound has been relieved with these guys debut album. A very well balanced 13 songs creates a jumpy yet elegant album wiht something for everyone. Money well spent!
