INVOKING THE MUSE presents Redmond in a much more album oriented light then previous efforts, as she further develops her own polyrhythmic compositions. "Radiant Pleasure" and the "Moons Lament" offer haunting and ethereal vocals by Laurel Masse and Ruth Cunningham. The bansuri, a beautiful North Indian flute is found on most of the album. It is on the track, "The Proclaimer," that Redmond really emerges. Her impossible finger rolls command the full reaches of the frame drum's resonance. The steady rhythm of INVOKING THE MUSE has a bass that gets deep down to a very tribal essence that is exquisitely realized.
