If any artist exploited MTV and music video to its full extent, it was Madonna, who was savvy enough to redefine her image with each video. All of her major videos between 1983 and 1990 (with the exception of "Burnin' Up" and "Justify My Love") are included on the video edition of The Immaculate Collection. Images from these videos -- the gondolas of "Like a Virgin," the Marilyn Monroe homage of "Material Girl," the taboo-shattering "Like a Prayer," the sleek, stylish "Vogue" -- have become part of pop culture, and watching the videos back to back confirms that Madonna always knew where she was going, visually and musically. The singles were benchmarks of pop music in the '80s, and if anything, the videos are even more important. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

This is a very good collection but it is far from being immaculate because it misses quite a few major Madonna hits such as "Dress You Up", "Angel", "True Blue" and two major hits from the "Who's That Girl?" soundtrack, the title track and "Causing a Commotion" as well as a top-ten single from Dick Tracy soundtrack, "Hanky Panky". Yet, until recently this was the only greatest hits collection she had released. Now she has [...] Greatest Hits - Volume 2. [...] making this the "Volume 1" of the series. What we really need is a 2-3 cd (or even better: a box set) collection of Madonna's hits because she has just way too many to fit in one or even two cd.
All the hits and more in one package, you can't go wrong. The best compilation CD from Madonna with excellent sound quality. Madonna was the icon fo the 80s and 90s and this collection simply says it all. A must have!
This inappropriately named collection of songs is likely to be enjoyed by a wide range of listeners, if you can put the antics of the artist aside. While Madonna is not a songwriter, she is a talented performer, and she breathes life into every track. Early work is covered well, with lucky star, holiday and borderline; and this album features selections right up to the early 90's (justify my love, vogue).
A must have for any oldschool Madonna Fan. With all the classics its great for parties and just boping around the house. I play this at work all the time and there are always people singing along to the songs. With all your favourite Madonna tracks - how could you go wrong.
