Peter Frampton, guitarist for a modestly successful boogie band (Humble Pie), released several solo records that were almost entirely ignored. However, he spent years crisscrossing the nation's sports arenas, opening for everyone under the sun, until so many people had seen him in America's hockey rinks that his double-LP live record became one of the most successful rock albums of all time.
