A nice 40-minute collection of Christmas music from Vanguard's vaults. The fourteen cuts are rather biased toward Joan Baez, who is represented here with selections from NOEL, as well as a song from the Newport Folk Festival that introduced her to the folk community at large. Also sampled on this album are Odetta, the Weavers, Erik Darling and Jackie Washington. Overall, an excellent album that includes more of interest than the usual selection of Christmas standards. ~ Steven McDonald

This compilation is a unique one. You may or may not have seen this genre of Christmas album, but from personal experience, these are very suitable for the festive season’s friends and family gatherings. If you can still remember Raffi the children’s entertainer, at least this album is not as gay and upbeat as that sort of music.
