The Western swing tradition is a precious American art-form that sometimes seems in danger of falling into obsolescence--until artists like Elana James come along to save the day. A handy violinist and honey-voiced singer, James has mastered that sweet/tart style of singing that combines sassiness, world-weary wisdom, and innocence. The songs on this promising 2007 debut are crisp and smart, and occasionally--as on the country ballad "All the World and I"--heart-wrenching. James also has an assured way with old pop standards, like her rueful take on "I Got it Bad (and That Ain't Good)."

This album is one of the best Folk Albums around at the moment. Although Elana James has not had much publicity and is not well known, this album is one of the better ones of 2007. This type of music is not for everyone so if you into Hiphop or just dont like Folk Music then i would steer clear of this album, but if you like Folk music it would be a great addition to your CD collection.
