- Although Lawrence Welk gets top billing and his picture is on the back cover of the LP, this is actually a fairly strong Dixieland date by Welk's sidemen with many solos from its new star, clarinetist Pete Fountain. The music is not quite as strong as Fountain's first albums as a leader but there are good moments to heard on such standards as "China Boy," "Barnyard Blues" and "'S Wonderful." ~ Scott Yanow
