showcases the celestial sounds of vocalists Lisa Kelly, Chloë Agnew, Lynn Hilary and
Alex Sharpe along with the dynamic inventiveness of Celtic Violinist Máiréad Nesbitt
The Songs from the Heart CD will include contemporary hits like Mariah Carey’s “When
You Believe,” Sting’s “Fields of Gold,” and Billy Joel’s “Goodnight My Angel” as well
as the Irish classics “Galway Bay” and “My Lagan Love”.
In only four years, Celtic Woman has had CD and DVD sales topping 4 million and performed
for almost a million people. Their last three TV specials have aired on Ovation to the
delight of many fans across Australia. A true celebration of Ireland and Celtic Woman’s

Performer Notes - Songs from the Heart is the fifth offering from the Celtic Woman quintet. With some alternating membership, it sticks close to producer and arranger David Downes' (of Riverdance fame) vision/formula: these women sing contemporary and traditional Celtic songs and well-known standards backed by a choir, Celtic folk instruments -- bodhran, fiddle, Uilleann pipes, and bagpipes -- a full backing band, and an orchestra. Lisa Kelly does a tender reading of of Sting's "Fields of Gold," as an opener, while the entire group participates in an overblown version of "Amazing Grace," complete with bagpipes. There is a lovely version of the traditional ballad "Nil S‚'n L " once more sung by the quintet with killer bodhran playing by Ray Fean. The song selection here is somewhat more eclectic than on previous albums, as evidenced by a complex, spit-shined and polished take on the Phil Collins-penned Disney tune "You'll Be in My Heart" for an Alex Sharpe solo, the British Isles standard "My Lagan Love," and even Dvor k's "Non C'Š Pi—." ~ Thom Jurek

Celtic Woman: songs from the heart is a truly wonderful dvd. The songs are so uplifting and so well chosen for the group and the magical outdoor setting. The musicians are superb; the production is perfect. Behind the scense footage adds to the interest with scenes of tense rain soaked preparation for the concert providing a nice contrast with the extremely professional final product. The live audience was raptuous; dvd viewers will likely not give a standing ovation, but then again perhaps we should. A magnificent dvd.
