Performer Notes - Personnel includes: Lester "Dillinger" Bullocks (vocals).
- Liner Note Author: Harry Hawke.
- Dillinger was one of the best second-generation Jamaican DJs, whose biggest era came in the 1970s, although he's continued to release music. This economical double-CD set captures his biggest hit, "Cocaine in My Brain," which brought him international fame, and its follow-up, "Marijuana in My Brain." However, as a greatest-hits collection, there's plenty missing, such as "Natty King Fu" and "CB200," the track that first really brought him to fame. In other words, it's far from complete. That said, however, it does have a number of tracks that Dillinger cut at Black Ark with Lee "Scratch" Perry early in his career. While they were never hits, there's a wonderful inventiveness to the sound that makes them essential listening. Just don't go into this thinking you'll be hearing the man's biggest smashes and you'll be fine. Accept it for what it is, an anthology of his work, with a uniformly high standard (many of these cuts are the equals of his biggest hits), and you'll leave happy. ~ Chris Nickson
Professional Reviews Q (11/00, p.124) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...Scary but compelling....loopy enough to compete with Lee Perry's own output..."
The Wire (10/00, p.83) - "...A mixed bag from a series of producers...running from the stone classic, Observer-produced 'Flat Foot Hustling' to the plainly ludicrous 'Crab In My Pants'..."
