This is a fantastic recording from King's College Choir and Sir David Willcocks with well known names such as Heather Harper and John Shirley-Quirk. As one of the few recordings in English the choir does absolute justice to the music and text.
I bought this in preparation of seeing the real thing in two months time hoping to understand the music. I found I have fallen in love with this inspiring choral masterpiece. Haydn's goal of presenting a piece to rival Handel's Messiah has definitely been achieved and though not as well known is worthy of as big an audience of fans.
I also gifted a copy to my mother who was delighted to see Heather Harper and John Shirley-Quirk, both who she sung with while at the Liverpool Philharmonic Choir in the 1960-70s.
I'd recommend this recording for all lovers of classical, choral or sacred music.
