Christmas albums are pretty limited in their playability aside from one month out of the year, but if you are going to be listening to a Christmas album, it might as well be Christmas Greetings from Studio One. Forget the usual weak versions of holiday favorites, this record has some of reggae's greatest performers giving seasons greetings the tropical, Caribbean way. Highlights include the Silvertones feel-good "Bling Bling Christmas," Alton Ellis' groovy "Praise Jah, It's Christmas" -- one of the coolest Christmas tunes ever recorded -- and Toots and the Maytals totally unbeatable "Christmas Feeling Ska" (skankin' around the Christmas tree, anyone?). A great way to gift wrap this album is to use clear cellophane and wrap it up by scrunching up the top like you do with gift baskets. The recipient will be able to see the contents and it looks so much more professional.
You know who are HUGE fans of Christmas albums? As I found out the other day, my little baby boy is extremely fond of Christmas jingles! It is like a wiggles substitute, and gets their little back sides swinging to the beat! It is fantastic entertainment for the family watching the little ones dancing, and keeps the babies occupied preventing unwanted crying at family Christmas events.
