  • ABSENCE, the full-length debut from Paper Route, is a fine showing for this Nashville, Tennessee, trio. Blending synth pop with contemporary indie rock and electronica-fused stylings, Paper Route owe a debt to 1980s acts like New Order, while also drawing influence from contemporaries like the Postal Service and Snow Patrol. Thanks to its solid songwriting, ABSENCE works well as both a rock album and a collection of intimate, atmospheric pop tunes, bridging the majestic and the intimate on tracks like "Wish" and "Good Intentions."
