I normally prefer scifi and horror films, but made an exception here because Kirsten Dunst is one of my favorite actresses. I was not disappointed. This movie is superb and one of Kirsten's best films. If you like romantic comedies you will enjoy this or if you enjoy adorable Kirsten, you will be very pleased!
Thsi mvie was pretty average, i never really liked the TV show but thought it might be an interesting movie (seen as alot of adaptions from other tv shows/ games and comics were good, its too bad it had to be a kids movie, its based around the young kid and his 2 friends saving the day which i thought sucked, worth a shot if your a kid
This film does not do justice to the orginal puppet TV series. The acting is rather cheesy, easy to get away with if you are a puppet, rather disturbing for a live actor. the speical couldn't save this yawner and before the movie was half over I had already texted 12 mates and was planning an evening out. Some may like it but it wasn't for me.
am not a fan of tennis, but I thoroughly enjoyed this film and the background. Kirsten Dunst plays a rising tennis star. Paul Bettany is playing a pro that was once ranked number eleven on the tennis circuit and has fallen to 119th at the beginning of the movie. Paul's character has given up on his professional tennis career but has drawn the wild card spot at Wimbledon.
Our two stars have great chemistry on film and it flows through to the characters. And of course Wimbledon is a co-star of this film. Besides the romantic comedy this movie is supposed to be, it also does a wonderful job of showing the inner workings of Pro Tennis. The tennis through out this movie looks real. The director has succeeded in making the actors look like great players. And the stress and determination it takes to play the game at this level.
This movie is actually two movies combined into one. A tennis film and a witty romantic comedy that is about chasing your dreams. And shows that if you are going to try and succeed at something, in order to do your best you must do so with all your heart. It is worth watching.
boring movie, i did not enjoy this at all, it was pretty much dull to the core. not much seemed to happen, and i think that kirsten really missed the boat with this one. a sport movie is pretty much always boring, and this one is no exception. also a bit hard to understand if you do not understand tennis terminology.
Maybe I fell asleep and missed the good part, but this movie was absolutely horrific. They took a good idea and concept and absolutely slaughtered it. This movie is so mind numbing that I almost couldnt believe it myself. Kirsten Dunst plays herself like always and Paul Bettany is only able to be described as tragic. This movie gets the biggest thumbs down and should only be watched if you are tied to a chair!
A great movie. I didn't really like Kirsten Dunst before this movie, but I think she suits the character very well.
I've liked Paul Bettany in A Knight's Tale and more in Master and Commander, the Far Side of the World, but I think he is at his best in this movie.
His attitude and listening to his thoughts is hilarious.
A bit of a cliched ending perhaps, but I really liked it.
A very funny movie, and I think people who like tennis would enjoy it even more!
Here we have the unlikely story of a tennis player who is ranked so low in the world rankings that he doesn't even get noticed when announcing his retirement after competing in Wimbledon. He befriends the world number 1 in the ladies singles and they get to know each other well to the point where her father says his involvement could throw off her campaign to win. What actually happens is fairly remarkable, and a happy ending ensues as assumed here. This is for tennis fans as well as those of romantic comedy.
