"White Heat" is a gangster film that still holds up almost 60 years later. Yes, they made them differently back then, but quite frankly the acting (Cagney especially) and the direction are first rate and the story is compelling. A great film, thoroughly entertaining, with a climax that is one of the most memorable in screen history. A classic Hollywood film from a time when that was a good thing.

White Heat is one of the all time classic gangster films with James Cagney at his volatile best as mother fixated mobster Cody Jarratt who makes it allbeit briefly to the top of the world before exploding spectacularly. Its tight and mean and quite brilliant in style and structure and ageless to boot.
