This live show takes all the cheese and the prog-rock pretension of Jeff Wayne's album and squares it. This is bad news if you're a punk, but great news for those of us who like this sort of thing. See Hayward and Thompson still hitting the high notes after all these years! Boggle at Richard Burton's giant holographic polystyrene head! Quail before a stage-straddling prop Fighting Machine! You can't help but be filled with glee at the whole melodramatic spectacle.
