After a waterfront explosion, Verbal (Kevin Spacey), an eye-witness and participant tells the story of events leading up to the conflagration. The story begins when five men are rounded up for a line-up, and grilled about a truck hijacking (the usual suspects). Least pleased is Keaton (Gabriel Byrne) a crooked cop - exposed, indicted, but now desperately trying to go straight. The cops won't leave him alone, however, and as they wait for their lawyers to post bail, he is talked into doing one more job with the other four. All goes tolerably well until the influence of the legendary, seemingly omnipotent Keyser Soze is felt. Although set in the modern day, it has much of the texture of the forties, plus suspense, intrigue (a fairly high body count), and lots of twists in the plot.

The movie is superb. I echo the reviews above, wholeheartedly. But what about the DVD itself?
This is a crappy barebones effort. No 5.1 soundtrack, only a stereo one. Distinctly average video transfer, definitely not one to show off your home theatre system. And no extra features (except the director's audio commentary).
My advice - search around for the Special Edition even if you have to get it from Region 2... The picture improvement will blow you away, and the newly remastered 5.1 audio is the perfect complement. It leaves this cheap-ass edition for dead!

Following a truck hijack in New York, five conmen are arrested and brought together for questioning. As none of them is guilty, they plan a revenge operation against the police. The operation goes well, but then the influence of a legendary mastermind criminal called Kaiser Soeze is felt. It becomes clear that each one of them has wronged Soeze at some point and must pay back now. The payback job leaves 27 men dead in a boat explosion, but the real question arises now: Who actually is Kaiser Soeze?

What monster of a movie. It starts off bland enough, so bland in fact that you will almost lose attention and end up doing something else. But trust me stick with it, because by the end of this film you will be left with you moth open and your mind blown! One of the best films I have ever seen.

I first saw this movie on tv and was doing my homework at the same time. Slowly I began to realize what a great movie this was and by the end I was glued to the screen. Also the first time I realized how good Kevin Spacey is. He plays his part perfectly. The plot itself is fantastic and has created a movie that is by many people considered an all time classic.

This thriller from director Bryan Singer is brilliant - Kevin Spacey is superb as the slimy, sickly Verbal Gint, the lone survivor of a shoot out... the ensemble cast is fantastic too - Gabriel Byrne is all class, Chazz Palminteri is great as the cop trying to get to the bottom of everything, and the rest of the cast is wonderful (Pollack, Baldwin, Del Toro and Postlethwaite). And Kaiser Soze? that dude is baaaaad...
